Summer at the UAB

2023
In the summer months, the buildings of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona's villa are empty due to the absence of classes, only a handful of foreign students decide to stay and wait for the start of the next academic year in the fall. I lived here for nine months while I was enrolled in a PgD programme. I was assigned with documenting the deserted villa of the university and photographing the few neighbors who live there.

It was mid-July, and the lively squares that were once filled with students in the evenings had become nearly vacant. The project reflects the sense of emptiness and isolation I began to feel during this time, capturing not just the abandoned spaces, but also the remaining residents, my neighbours, to answer the question:

Who lives at the UAB during the summer?
